Training Uitspraak van het Engels

Deze training wordt aangeboden door de VU Letteren BV Gryps. De eerste opdrachtgever was het Ministerie Van Defensie.

In 2010 werd een symposium Uitgesproken Engels op de VU gehouden. Beluister en bekijk een radiofragment, video (NOS Headlines) en krantenartikelen (NRC Handelsblad) (NRC Next) over het symposium.

Masterclass (voor aankomende studenten)

Onderzoek

Ik doe onderzoek op het gebied van Language Variation and Change (taalvariatie, taalverandering en taalgeschiedenis) en tweede taalverwerving.

Ik onderzoek hoe sprekers taal gebruiken om sociale identiteiten aan te nemen, en welke taalvormen zich daar het best voor te lenen. Ik werk hierbij samen met David Britain (Universiteit Bern), Sali Tagliamonte (University of Toronto) en Dora Edu-Buandoh (University of Cape Coast, Ghana). Ik onderzoek ook de sociale effecten van het leren van een tweede taal.
