News, tips and ideas
From now on here’s where you can find news about our department and NT2 in general. There are also some puzzels available which are a great way for NT2 learners to practise their vocabulary! For NT2 teachers we have developed several course materials, available below as a free download. Please scroll down for a training programme in dictionary use for less educated people as well as an overview of the idiom used in the course book CODE 2.

Integration exam
Do you come from outside the EU and do you want to settle in the Netherlands? You'll first have to sit an integration exam at the Dutch ambassy in your home country. If you're now temporarily in Holland and want to prepare yourself for the integration exam, please join our day courses or one of our evening courses.

Free course materials for NT2 teachers
• Training programme in dictionary use for less educated people
In 2003 Van Dale published the paperback dictionary Dutch as a second language (NT2). As using a dictionary, the NT2 paperback dictionary included, has proven difficult for many NT2 learners, Van Dale also published a practice book (2004) for the paperback dictionary. This book helps the NT2 learner to gradually become acquainted with the dictionary and to use it efficiently. NT2 learners with no prior experience of dictionaries at all need simpler excercise material and an appropriate learning method. For these learners we have developed a few lessons which we gladly make available here. Click here to view these lessons in PDF format.
• Idiom used in CODE 2
The course book CODE 2 pays considerable attention to the learning of idiom and collocations. While using the book in the class room, the NT2 department felt that it would be useful to have a booklet with a complete overview of the idiom used in CODE 2. Students can use the booklet in addition to CODE 2 to look for the meaning of idiom. The brochure contains numerous references to the Van Dale paperback dictionary Dutch as a second language, which also explains the meaning of much of the idiom.
