Assessment certification Competent NT2 teacher
The assessment certification Competent NT2 teacher involves compiling a portfolio by means of the Competency profile, the portfolio itself, plus the related manuals and attachments. These documents can be found on the website of the BVNT2, the Professional Society of NT2 teachers. Compiling a portfolio can be done individually or in cooperation with other colleagues. If you are looking for someone to work with, we advise you to visit the BVNT2 website, which will shortly feature names of other colleagues. NT2 teachers who have recently (as of 2002) followed a post-HBO (higher professional education) NT2 degree programme or the dual degree programme NT2 teacher (as offered by VU/Windesheim) may use the portfolio that they compiled during their study as a basis for the portfolio Competent NT2 teacher. Once you have completed your portfolio you need to contact us (or one of the other educational institutions) for the assessment procedure, thereby indicating when you would like to do the assessment. The assessor will study your portfolio, will contact you in case you need to solve any deficiencies, and will make an appointment for the assessment.
Your portfolio will then be evaluated by respectively a first assessor and an expert assessor. The work of candidates who have recently completed a post-HBO NT2 degree programme or the dual degree programme NT2 teacher will only be evaluated by one assessor. After this evaluation follows the assessment, which is a one-hour discussion between you, the first assessor and, if involved, the expert assessor, on the contents of your portfolio and the quality of your competencies. The assessment will end with a brief reflection on how the discussion went. Within two weeks after the assessment you will receive the official result, a report of the discussion, and, in case of a positive evaluation, the Certification Competent NT2 teacher. Should you have not yet met the criteria, the assessor will provide you with carefully formulated advice on how to increase your competencies.
