Assessment certification Competent NT2 teacher
If you wish to become an officially recognised Competent NT2 teacher, our department is the right place to start. The Professional Society of NT2 teachers, the BVNT2, has recently formulated a competency profile for NT2 teachers. By means of this profile, a corresponding portfolio of competencies acquired as well as an elaborate manual, teachers can make an overview of their previously acquired competencies and thus show that they are competent NT2 teachers. As proof of their competency they will then receive the certification Competent NT2 teacher. The BVNT2 has designated a number of educational institutions to assess the portfolios of teachers who wish to become certified. Degree programme NT2 teacher in adult education
For people who wish to become an NT2 teacher, VU University Amsterdam (i.e. the Department of Applied Linguistics and the Department of Dutch as a Second Language) and the Windesheim University of Professional Education have developed a special one-year dual degree programme, entitled NT2 teacher in adult education. This degree programme contains two parts: an Applied Linguistics part (NT2) and a didactic part (Didactics BVE). As such, you will acquire language knowledge and will develop didactic skills. As proof of these competencies, you will, upon successfully completing the programme, receive the certificate NT2 teacher and the officially recognised Proof of didactic competence for the BVE (Dutch vocational education and training and adult education). With these documents, you are very well equipped for a job as NT2 teacher at an ROC or other institution for adult education.
