Accommodation
Finding affordable accommodation in Amsterdam is extremely difficult. We strongly advise you to arrange accommodation through the VU University Amsterdam International Office. Accommodation consists of furnished rooms with private or shared facilities. The number of rooms and apartments is limited, so we cannot guarantee that we will find accommodation for everyone. Nevertheless, the International Office does its utmost to find a place to stay for international students.
In order to improve your chances of obtaining accommodation via the International Office, you are strongly advised to apply well in advance, definitely before the application deadline.
After you have submitted your online application, you will receive more information about the application procedure for accommodation. For students who will study at our university during the first semester or the whole year this will be in May; for students who will study at our university during the second semester this will be in November.
You should bear in mind that the average price for a room is approximately € 350. Please note that in order to apply for accommodation, you must transfer a non-refundable administration fee of €200 for one semester and € 400 for two semesters.
