Eating and drinking

There are three restaurants – known as "mensa" – on the VU campus, which are open for lunch and dinner. The one in the main building serves hot meals between 12 and 7pm.

For light refreshments, sandwiches and snacks, you can go to the coffee corner on the eighth floor of the main building. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.00pm.

For a delicious cappuccino, beer, lunch or dinner, you can visit our campus grand cafe The Basket. The Basket is open from Monday till Friday between 9 am and 11 pm.

Café DE on the ground floor of the main building (also in the Medical Faculty), operated by Douwe Egberts (the Dutch main coffee brand), is the place to go for a good coffee. Other drinks and snacks such as muffins, are also available. It is open Monday to Thursday, 8.30am - 5pm, and 8.30am - 6pm on Friday.
